Memorandum of Understanding between DC and PIANC signed in Brussels

The Memorandum of Understanding between the Danube Commission and the World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure (PIANC) was signed on 5 February 2025, in Brussels, at the new PIANC headquarters.

The ceremony took place in the margins of the joint event at which experts from all PIANC Commissions attended (InCom, EnviCom, MarCom, RecCom, FinCom, ProCom, and CoCom), with over 90 participants.

The document was signed on behalf of the Danube Commission by Mr. Manfred Seitz, Director General of the Secretariat, and on behalf of PIANC by Mr. Geert Van Cappellen, Secretary-General, in the presence of the PIANC President, Mr. Francisco Esteban Lefler.

The document confirms the common interest in the field of inland navigation, especially in regard to exchange of knowledge and information, involvement of experts, authorities, and other stakeholders, and further promotion of inland waterways transport on the global scale.
