Joint working group of the Danube Region Strategy PA1a / PA11 for administrative processes, hosted by the Danube Commission Secretariat.

On 2 October 2024, the Danube Commission Secretariat hosted the Joint working group of the Danube Region Strategy PA1a / PA11 for administrative processes.

The meeting aimed to discuss the control competencies at national level in order to identify possible gaps in cooperation in the Danube riparian states and to identify areas of overlapping efforts at the transnational level.

Representatives of the Danube riparian state (Austria, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Germany) delivered presentations on the country-specific responsibilities, control standards, legal regulations, as well as on risk assessment and action guidelines for hazardous situations. Participants also had a fruitful exchange of views on monitoring environmental regulations, harmonizing of technical tools, and developing a common transnational platform for control authorities in the entire Danube region.

The workshop represented a good opportunity for the Danube states to discuss ways to foster cooperation and data exchange between control bodies, in order to improve control procedures on the Danube.
