Working group on legal and financial matters meeting, May 11-14, 2021
The Danube Commission’s Legal and Financial Working Group meeting, 11-14 May 2021 made progress in clearing the backlog of issues that had accumulated as a consequence of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. During the first two days, delegations dealt with financial, administrative and human resources matters. On the last day of the meeting, the working group examined the draft decisions submitted by Ukraine and the Russian Federation regarding the recognition of the technical provisions for ships. The group decided to continue the analysis of the draft decision submitted by Ukraine, and to forward the draft decision prepared by the Russian Federation concerning the sea-river ships for approval to the 95th session of the Danube Commission to be held on 15 June 2021.
The working group also forwarded for approval a draft decision concerning the technical cooperation with EDINNA, the educational network of inland navigation schools and training institutes. Following a proposal made by the Slovak delegation, the group invited the Danube Commission to consider the posthumous award of the medal of merit for the development of Danube navigation, to Stanislav Fialík, former Director of the Gabčikovo branch of the Slovak Water Management Company.
