DC participation in the Constanța Port Day in Belgrade

The 16th edition of the Port of Constanta Day in Belgrade was organized on 3 October 2024, by the National Company of the Constanta Sea Ports Administration.

The Constanța Port Day has become a traditional logistics event in the Republic of Serbia and a meeting opportunity for the most important regional actors in the field of transport, logistics and agri-business. This edition was attended by over 250 participants, representing companies from Serbia Hungary, Croatia and Romania. The DC Secretariat was represented by Mr Dejan Trifunovic.

The Port of Constanta presented the results of last year, with a record transport volume of 92.7 million tonnes (22.5% increase compared to 2022). In the first 6 months of 2024, the traffic of goods in Constanța port has remained at the same level as that recorded in the same period last year, of over 40 million tonnes. Regarding the traffic of goods in 2023 originating or in transit to Serbia, 7.3 million tonnes were registered.

Mr George Gabriel Visan, Commercial Director of the NC Maritime Ports Administration SA Constanța, presented the investment projects financed by European funds in the amount of over 476 million euros and new projects in the amount of 270 million euros . In the long term, NC Maritime Ports Administration SA Constanța has initiated a project to expand the operating capacity of the Constanța port by about 20%, by creating new territories and operating berths that will serve specialized terminals, a project estimated at over 1 billion euro. Currently, Port of Constanța is connected with ports around the world by 13 regular container lines and 3 regular RO-RO lines.

During the panel discussion on “Grains from the Danube – Challenges and Opportunities,” participants from the trade and transport sectors, as well as grain storage from Serbia and Romania emphasized the importance of diversifying services and attracting new types of cargo.

Representative of DC Secretariat discussed with the Port of Constanța representatives about the effects of the operations launched in June 2024 from Port of Constanța to Türkiye’s Black Sea Port of Karasu (Ro-Ro terminal and transport of cargo and passenger ).
